Jun. 5th, 2008 @ 11:21 pm a series of one-liners because I don't feel like making them longer
Current Mood: bored
Current Music: Arashi - Kaze

1. It's funny how I only seem to want something after it's pulled out of my reach.

2. Thanks for lying all along just to make me feel better; we all know nothing good ever comes of lies, but that's ok, I never believed them anyway.

3. Next week is going to be very, very long and excruciating.

4. As I once said in an unusually wise moment and only recently remembered... 私が奇数。

5. I've gone beyond pathetic lately, but I find it harder and harder to find reason to care.

6. Note to self: LAY OFF THE WISHFUL THINKING AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Also, I've been thinking I should really start coming up with some user icons for this journal and LJ, but I have no idea what kind of theme(s) to use. Blah.

Still don't feel like messing with my two main journals, so figured I'd recount the past week here. No big events that I'd expect anyone to care about, but I got bored.

Overall I've been in another one of my ruts for the past couple weeks. Largely because my arms have been getting sore so I've been giving them a break from fansubbing work, which means there's less to distract me from the usual whirlwind of random thoughts it usually blocks out for me. I was never doing that intentionally with the fansub stuff, by the way; that's just how it turned out. Guess I realized it when I had to go without it for this long. Like, woah, idleness = thoughts. Eww.

Anyway. Won't go into all of those thoughts, because it's stuff that doesn't really matter. Me not having a job, temporarily not having a car, not being in Japan yet, feeling useless when I can't get any work done... thoughts brought on by one cousin and entirely different ones brought on by another cousin... weird dreams... even my nephew. And probably plenty more I'm forgetting.

But like I said, not going into all that.

Tuesday the nephew was supposed to have another baseball game, but it was canceled, so since the parents and I were already in town on the way there when we got the call, we ran around in town instead. Tried to get some new clothes at Penneys, but apparently this year's fashion sucks, so I came away with exactly two graphic T-shirts. But we had dinner at Olive Garden, so it was worth it. Found out I really like calamari (which I pretty much expected since I liked squid anyway).

Wednesday mom and I went to get haircuts, which had been scheduled exactly two days prior. I've known for quite a while that I wanted something different, though, so I was prepared. Got it all hacked off up to the shoulders, layered, and angled around my face in the front. Nothing like any hairstyle I've ever had before, and I like it. I might have to start going in for trims every month or two to keep it from growing out too much. This works.

Thursday I woke up and immediately found that my computer wasn't acknowledging that it does, in fact, have a hard drive. Spent the whole day certain my HD had died, which, because I'm a hopeless computer addict, made me twitchy and sulky all day. Then late in the evening dad was finally able to take it apart and check the drive itself, and apparently there was just a loose cable, because he just fiddled with them a couple times and after that it worked fine. Also, the nephew had another baseball game, which actually wasn't canceled this time. It's kind of sad... his team has had 4 games now (not counting 3 that were rained out), and fewer and fewer kids on his team come to each game. They had a full team for the first game, only 6 kids for the next one, and only 3 for the one this past Tuesday. They had to borrow a kid from the other team to go up to bat, just so there'd be enough to fill the bases. Makes one wonder why their mothers signed them up in the first place.

Friday, my grandpa and uncle came up to hand-deliver a certain demon spawn cousin's graduation announcements - for her graduation the next day. In other words, it was today (Saturday). I didn't go. If it were important to her that her "family" showed up, she would've mailed out the things plenty of time in advance instead of making her legal guardians do it the day before the fact. Of course, I wouldn't have gone anyway. Frankly, if I never see her again for the rest of my life, it'll be too soon.

Saturday (today) nothing really happened. Braeden had another game in the morning, but I was still in bed when the parents left. Apparently only one or two kids on his team showed up this time. Missed the Asian Festival for the first time since I learned it existed because my car's not fixed yet. Then in the evening was the graduation I didn't go to... earned a couple of glares from my parents, and probably more from her father when I see him tomorrow, but ask me if I care. She's given me no reason to have any kind of positive thoughts about her. Family means nothing to her; the only human she wants in her vicinity is her boyfriend, and everyone else is dirt.

But I'm not going to rant about her anymore. She's not worth it.

I also tried to do some timing and typesetting again today, since my arms seemed better, but I didn't get far before they started aching again. I've probably messed them up permanently by now. Oh well... big surprise.

So instead I've been filling my time watching videos instead of translating them - particularly dramas. My latest addiction is Bokura no Yuuki ~Miman City~. Wasn't expecting much from it, as it's quite old and all the stars are kids or teenagers, but I also wasn't expecting it to be so heavy and dark and even depressing. It has impressed me. Gonna be sad when I run out of episodes to watch.

That's it, I guess. Nothing worth the time it took to read, right?
